GMPP Celebrates Big Blocks and Big Debuts at SEMA 2007
GM Performance Parts has gone "all in" at the 2007 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. We had such an impressive, powerful lineup of new products to reveal this year, we were compelled to put on a high-performance Vegas show for the automotive specialty industry's most influential enthusiasts!
Now, here's your chance to take an exclusive look at what GM Performance Parts showed the performance professionals who toured the 2 million square feet of automotive spectacle that was the 2007 SEMA Show.
Project X – The Longest-Living Project Vehicle
The most celebrated '57 Chevy on the planet, known to millions as Project-X, has received a 2007 overhaul with a little help from GM Performance Parts. Project-X has the distinction of being powered by the first prototype of our limited-edition Anniversary 427 blocks.
Read about the storied history and the soon-to-be-classic future of this iconic Chevy in our Project-X Profile.
The Anniversary 427 – Limited Edition Crate Engine
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Chevrolet big block, GM Performance Parts has brought back a modern version of the ZL1 for your chance to relive muscle car history. The Anniversary Edition 427 starts with a retooled version of the ZL1 aluminum block using the exact same tooling that helped create this legend in 1969. The advantage of the aluminum block is that it offers the completed engine the weight of a small block with a whole lot more power.
With a full list of features, this modern ZL1 is one of the most exclusive big block crate engines ever offered by GM Performance Parts. Fittingly, only 427 will ever be produced, and then the ZL1 tooling will be retired forever. The 427 lucky owners of this commemorative monster can expect an estimated 480 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque.
The 427 copies of the Anniversary 427 go on sale in the first quarter of 2008 through GM dealers and authorized GM Performance Parts retailers. Each copy also comes with a complementing Anniversary Owners Kit that includes a certificate of authenticity, an engine plate with specifications, and other items.
The LS3 Family – Three New Crate Engines
The LS engine family is expanding once again. This time, we have three powerful new engine offerings to enhance the choices for late-model performance enthusiasts, muscle car and street rod builders, and racers of all stripes.
The three new engines – the LS3 6.2L, LS376/480, and the LS376/520 – continue the LS tradition of breaking new ground for efficiency and performance from a pushrod platform engine.
The LS3 kicks out 430 horsepower and 424 lb.-ft. of torque. The LS 376/480 is an LS3 with an upgraded camshaft that ups power by a whopping 50 horsepower! The LS 376/520 is equipped with an aggressive camshaft and GM Performance Parts' exclusive carbureted intake manifold. That's two simple upgrades that add up to 520 horsepower – a 90 horsepower bump over the stock LS3.
Available in early 2008!
ZZ427 – All-New 427 Big Block
There are few engines that conjure up images of greatness like the 427 Chevy big block. New to the GM Performance Parts lineup, the ZZ427 big block crate engine brings back all of the good things that you remember about the 427 with a few modern new upgrades. With an updated cast-iron block, a 9.5:1 final compression ratio, and an aggressive hydraulic roller camshaft, the ZZ427 offers you outstanding performance while still living on low octane fuel.
Available in first quarter 2008!
LS Controllers – Plug & Play Controllers
We've developed a way to take the guesswork out of an LS engine swap – true plug-and-play controllers for LS2, LS3, and LS7 crate engines.
Coming in early 2008, the LS controllers will allow you to simply plug the factory-type harness connections into the new controller and start the engine – no recalibration or tuning is required.
Best of all, the new controllers are adaptable to any vehicle fitted with one of the previously mentioned engines – from late model Corvettes, GTOs, and F-cars to vintage muscle cars, street rods, and off-road vehicles.
