The GM Performance Parts ("GMPP") Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block is the most exclusive crate engine that we've produced in the fifty year history of the Chevy big block. This all–aluminum, all–new crate engine is our tribute to the classic ZL1 big block – originally built in 1969. Using the same block tooling as the original, it's a modern version of the ultimate factory Chevy big block.

A: GMPP is proud to announce that the Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block is currently available for sale.

Q: How do I purchase an Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block crate engine?

A: The only way to buy an Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block is through an official GMPP Authorized Center Dealer. A complete list of participating GM PP Authorized Center dealerships are listed here for your convenience. Q: How much will the Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block cost?

A: Your GMPP dealer will set the final price. Please, contact your favorite participating GMPP Authorized Center dealer for their pricing.

Q: Will GMPP be selling more than 427 of the Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block crate engines?

A: No, this is a limited edition crate engine that will be restricted to a run of only 427 units. Each Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block crate engine comes with its own, unique serial number, matching owner's kit, and full documentation.

Q: What comes in the owner's kit with each Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block crate engine?

A: Each Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block crate engines ships with a certificate that allows the new owner to obtain an exclusive GMPP owner's kit. Register your new engine at www.gmperformanceparts.com to receive your serial number–matching owner's kit. In that kit, you will find the following items:

  • Custom presentation case with document compartment
  • Serialized metal Anniversary 427 Certificate of Authenticity, featuring hand–stamped engine sequence number and forged Anniversary 427 emblem
  • Two additional official Anniversary Edition 427 emblems to place on your project vehicle.
  • Photo–etched and serialized Anniversary Edition 427 under hood engine data plate
  • Anniversary 427 air cleaner decal

Q: How do I get my owner's kit?

A: Once you buy your Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block crate engine, you will be provided with detailed instructions on how to register your engine as well as how to get your matching owner’s kit. Registration will only take a few minutes. See your GMPP Authorized Center dealer for more information.

Q: How do I tell if I bought an "authentic" Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block crate engine?

A: There are several ways to ensure that what you are buying is indeed an authentic Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block crate engine from GMPP. Here is a list of the distinguishing features for these very special crate engines:

  • Rear cam plate has "Anniversary Edition" script engraved.
  • Main caps have unique profile to clear oil pan.
  • Valve covers have boss for serial number on top side.
  • Valve cover bosses have serial number engraved.
  • Valve cover undersides have "Limited Edition" cast in.
  • There is a hand stamped serial number next to the machined block serial number.

Q: Will the Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block crate engine be available in turn–key form?

A: No, it will come as it is shown in the 2008 GMPP Catalog. See page 131 for installation notes. The Deluxe Serpentine Accessory Belt Drive System (p/n 19172805) is available separately.

Q: Can I buy the valve covers that come on the Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block separate from the engine?

A: No, each specific engine – serial number 1 through serial number 427 – will have its own unique set of valve covers. Individually serial–numbered "427 Chevrolet" valve covers will only be available as part of the engine assembly only and will coincide with each individually–numbered Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block crate engine.

However, a slightly different "427 Chevrolet" valve cover with the same natural aluminum finish (p/n 19202588) or with a black powder coating (p/n 19202589) is available for purchase.

Q: Is there going to be a "regular production" version of the Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block crate engine?

A: Yes, the ZZ427 big block crate engine (p/n 19166393), built with a high–strength cast iron block, and is going to be a regular part of the expansive GMPP crate engine lineup. Like the Anniversary Edition 427, the ZZ427 offers a heritage earned through fifty years of big block Chevrolet development, engineering, testing, and racing. In addition, the ZZ427 features the same aluminum heads, valve train, and rotating assembly as the Anniversary Edition 427. While all of the components are the same, the ZZ427 will be rated at 480 horsepower.

Q: Do you make an air filter for the Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block crate engine?

A: Yes. You can use our chrome Chevrolet air filter p/n 12342071 and affix the official Anniversary 427 air filter decal (that comes in your owner's kit) to top off your new crate engine.

Q: Will there be a matching Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block crate engine leather jacket?

A: Yes, if you buy an Anniversary Edition 427 Big Block, you will have the exclusive opportunity to purchase an official GMPP leather jacket that matches the serial number to the specific engine that you purchased. During the on-line registration process, you will be presented with detailed instructions on how you can buy this exclusive serial number-matching leather jacket.
